SERVING IN FAMILY COURT
In 1995, Brad was selected to serve as associate judge for a newly elected family court judge. His three and a half years of working with the court ’s docket provided unique insight into the workflow and case volume of a family court. “It requires a lot of patience. The people who walk through the courtroom doors are usually scared and angry. A judge must and make sure both sides get to tell their story and apply the rules of law in a way that is fair. I believe everyone deserves a chance to be heard,”he says.
Brad has focused exclusively on family law since 1998, representing clients and mediating cases. He has conducted hearings in Spanish and often represents children as a court-appointed attorney. After seeing firsthand the needs of his juvenile clients, Brad founded the Books for Shelters program to put libraries in shelters serving children appointed as wards of the court.
